This is a beautiful handmade salt glazed / stoneware crock; with a gorgeous bulbous form & in stunning rare wolf grey tones with a unique ‘orange peel’ finish & interesting
firing flaws
Possibly this piece was for wet storage indicated by an inset neck under top rim where string may have been tied to hold a cloth over the mouth or it may have been sealed with wax for storing preserves or molasses!
These days, crocks are perfect for storing kitchen utensils and double nicely as rustic vessels for branches & blooms alike!
