ORIGINAL OIL ON CANVAS PAINTING BY C N FREY (1886-1950) | C 1937 | ***DELIVERY INCLUDED IN CANADA

$495.00

Spectacular handsome oil on linen canvas c 1937 by notable Vancouver artist C. N. Frey

This is an original and almost one hundred year old painting of a bucolic pasture scene that is signed and dated in the lower right hand corner

C. N. Frey (Christle Norman Frey) 1886-1950 was a British Columbia artist known for his landscape and animal paintings, particularly those exhibited at the Vancouver Art Gallery in the 1940’s

This particular painting is a generous scale and depicts sheep grazing in an open grassy farm field with old growth impressionistic trees

A palette of wonderful saturated greens and amber gold hues on offer here with an impasto paint technique creating a textured surface with visible brush strokes and incredibly captured light, especially well appreciated upon standing back; framed in its original turned wood and gilt frame

24.25” W x 17.75” H x 2” D Framed dimensions
Painting is in very good antique condition, as found; the wood stretcher is visible in some areas along the sides; some light craquelure in spots and light wear to frame corners; ready to hang, all original as found

NOTE: the periodic wear to old gilt frames is commensurate with age and is expected with antique frames of this nature; quite charming and a bit shabby in the best possible way!! **please see photos
