Here is a rarely found cotton all-white antique bride’s quilt c 1905 from Waterloo County, likely Amish

Quilt is 78” x 80” and is in excellent condition for its age!

A wonderful layer for the country or cottage bedroom or a beautiful heirloom gift

Hand pieced and hand quilted with straight edges and made from high quality solid white cotton fabric, with a slim batting and all white stitching, approx x8 stitches per inch; the quilt consists of several different stylized designs which work beautifully together and are shown here in the photos. You can see cotton seed residue inside, particularly if held against the light.

Traditionally, quilts were made for or by the bride for her dowry; often a gift from friends and family for the bride-to-be, a celebratory warm and hand made gift

The making of quilts was an important social custom and each quilt tells a story and reflects community, artistry and resourcefulness

Several quilts were often part of the dowry including one special marriage / wedding quilt to be cherished, such as this one.

Scale of this quilt is 78” x 80” which drapes well on a full size bed (54” x 75”) with a 12” overhang on each side or fits a queen size bed (60” x 80”) with a 9” overhang on each side

In excellent antique condition, as found; one or two small faint imperfections, commensurate with age | no odour
